This June the museum is proud to be holding their annual Farmer Boy Days at the museum. This event is held every June for 4 days. It is dedicated to educating school children about life on the farm in the days of Little House on the Prairie. Schools can use the Laura Wilder Ingalls books in the class room to go along with this field trip. This event is not open to the public. Any school may call to register their 4th grade students for next years events. The children learn to plant seeds, haul water, wash clothes on a scrub board, sewing, butter making, learn to care for chickens and attend class in an original old school house! The gift shop is open and carries old fashion toys that the children can purchase at a reasonable price. It’s always exciting to see bus loads of excited students who may not get to the country much! They bring a bag lunch and make a day of it!

39TH ANNUAL DRAFT HORSE SHOW June 22nd Draft horses were valuable members of the farm family, providing the power to till soil in the family garden as well as in the crop fields—plowing, planting, and harvesting. Bring the family to the NNYAHS Agricultural Museum in Stone Mills on June 22 to see them shown in hand and in harness and to cheer them on in two competitive classes. Hitch Team consists of a four-horse team and wagon which demonstrates the skill of both team and driver. Farm Team is a recreational yet competitive class consisting of two-horse teams competing with wagons, in an obstacle course, and in log skidding. Prize money and ribbons will be awarded to competitors in each class. This event is open to farmers, crafters, and flea market vendors who wish to rent a site to sell their merchandise. Contact the Agricultural Museum at 315-658-2353 to request a Vendor Application Form. Camping facilities are available. The Museum Gift Shop will be open, and buildings will be open for tours.
