New Executive Board and Co-Executive Director Spearhead Capital Campaign
Stone Mills, NY, July 25, 2014

This is an ongoing campaign. Please consider a donation, either private or business!

The Stone Mills Museum elected a new executive board this week, Maureen Bartlet; President, Matt Barbalich; Vice President, Tim Wewer; Treasurer, Georgia Weathers; Secretary, and welcomed a new Co-Executive Director, Alton Jones. The first order of business for the new board was the launch of a capital campaign to fund repairs to the roof of the Stone Mills Church. The roof project is completed and attention is now being focused on the church's structure.

The church is on the National Registry of Historical Buildings and is the icon of the museum. Not only does it house exhibits, the building itself is an exhibit, making restoration critical.

The board will be accepting donations from the public in the hopes of raising $250,000, a portion of which will come from state grants.  Additional fund raising events will be added to the event schedule to fund the capital campaign as the season progresses.
Maureen adds, “The current restoration effort is focused on repointing the exterior walls, installing handcrafted reproductions of period windows and stabilizing the foundation.  All work needs to be completed in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the national register in order to maintain National Registry Status.”
